The Rockets of Altamont Lutheran Interparish School traveled to the campus of Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois, to compete in the Lutheran Sports Association of Illinois’s State Track Meet. While there, the Rockets competed with 60 other Lutheran schools at the 8th grade level. After two days of competition, the team tied for fourth in the boys’ division and placed second in the girl’s division. Some of the individual achievements were; sixth grader Garrett Ziegler finished thirteenth in the mile run; eighth grader Mitch Wolff finished twenty-fifth in the triple jump and thirty-ninth in the 400 meter dash; eighth grader Mark Hendricks finished sixteenth in the 200 meter dash, placed fourth in the shot put and third in the discus throw; eighth grader Davey Seidel placed fourth in the high jump and second in the 1600 meter run; and eighth grader Jason Hooks placed first the shot put. Also the boys’ 4 X 200 meter relay team of eighth graders Jason Hook, Davey Seidel, Mitch Wolff, and Mark Hendricks finished in fifth place. Altogether the boys earned 38 points which placed them in a tie with the Eagles of St. John Lutheran of Wheaton, IL.
