Ruth Ann Spilker, Teacher
Hi! My name is Ruth
Ann Spilker, and I teach second grade at A.L.I.S. It is an honor and a
privilege to teach second graders at A.L.I.S. I enjoy spending each
day with the young children in my class. The 2007-2008 school year is
my 14th year to teach at A.L.I.S. I taught at St John’s Lutheran
Preschool at East Moline, Illinois, and at Immanuel Lutheran in Rock
Island, Illinois before teaching at A.L.I.S.
The classroom is decorated with a “Little
House in the Big Woods” theme this year. We will read the series of
books called “My First Little House” books, and then read Little
House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura Ingalls
Wilder wanted children to know what life was like for pioneer families
like hers.
Growing in reading and writing skills is
the main focus of the academic work in second grade. We also study
phonics, spelling, math, social studies, science, and especially,
religion.
I
am looking forward to a great school year in 2007-2008. |
