Writing

We will have a writing journal at school which we will try to write in several times a week. I do not grade these, but simply enjoy listening to their stories and marvel at their creativity. You might want to ask your child to bring this home occasionally to share his/her work with you. On most Fridays we will do a special writing activity in place of English. These may or may not be in their journals. Also, in English, the students will study fairy takes, tall tales, and fables, and have a chance to write their own. The students will be expected to always write neat and use complete sentences in all their work.

Cursive Writing

The students will be practicing cursive writing until January. Then they will gradually begin doing all their work in cursive, and usually do very well. We use the Zaner-Bloser.
