April Stuemke, Grade 5, Home Room Teacher
Hi! I'm Mrs. April Stuemke, and I am the fifth grade
homeroom teacher. I have taught at ALIS since 1986. I have
taught several subjects from 4th grade to
8th
grade in the years I have been blessed to teach here. Previously
to teaching at ALIS, I taught at the Altamont Grade School and at Frog
Pond Nursery School.
This year I am teaching fifth and sixth grade
reading, and fifth through eighth grade English and spelling.
My favorite subject to teach is English.
I graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School (now
ALIS), and Altamont High School. I have an Associate Degree in
Child Care from Lake Land College, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary
Education from Eastern Illinois University with concentration in
English, and a Colloquy Degree from Concordia, River Forest.
I am married to Elwin "Curly" Stuemke, and I have
three sons. My oldest son, Kyle, is married to Emily, and is a PTA
at Carle Hospital in Champaign. Emily is an x-ray tech in
Effingham. They have 2 sons, Brayden and Nathan. I absolutely love
being a grandmother!!!
My middle son, Kenon, works at Kingery Printing
and helps coach the ALIS
softball team.
My youngest son, Kory, is a student at SIU-E
in the English education program.
My mom, my 3 sisters, and 1 of my brothers live in
Altamont, also. I have 1 brother who lives in Belleville. I
enjoy my nieces and nephews, and I try to get to as many of their
activities as possible.
I belong to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where I am
on the Praise Team, and the Music Ministry Team.
I direct the Bell Choir, the Cantata Choir, and I accompany the Adult
Choir. I love using my musical abilities to praise the Lord! I
also enjoy listening to all kinds of music, especially musical
soundtracks.
Some of my favorite things to do when I can find
spare time are to spend time with my family and watch their games,
concerts, and other activities, play trivia games, play the piano and
sing. I also enjoy going to musicals in St. Louis and Chicago.
My favorite past time activity is to watch Chicago
Cubs baseball. My dream someday is to live in Wrigleyville and be
able to go to all the home games. My husband and I have sung the
National Anthem at Wrigley and we got to meet some of the players.
If I was not a teacher, I would love to work for the Cubs.
Thank you for looking at our website, and if you
have any questions that I could answer, please contact me by e-mail.
The message that I would like to leave with you is that Jesus loves you
and that he died for you. I pray that God will bless you as you
consider ALIS, or continue to attend ALIS.
