Sixth Grade Science Project
First Quarter - Insect Collection 

Collect insects that belong to the following categories.

1.Butterfly
2.Moth
3.Ant
4.Bee/Wasp
5.Grasshopper
6.Cricket
7&8 Beetles (different)
9.Praying Mantis
10.Fly.

Other families of insects can also be collected (dragonflies, termite’s lacewings etc). The species identification will be done at school.

The following materials have been provided and you need to take care of them.

A killing jar with ethyl acetate (finger nail polish remover), mounting box, and pins. These will be returned to Mr. Benning at the end of the project.

The project is worth 20 pts. (2Pts. Per insect) and is due _____________

Extra credit of 10 points can be earned by writing a one page report on any insect.
