Seventh Grade Science Project
First Quarter - Soil Collection

You will make a soil collection using the "Soil Survey of Effingham County" to collect 5 soils and write small reports on each. The collection will be worth 50 points. If you wish extra credit for 1ST quarter you may do up to two more soils for 10 points each.

Please receive permission before collecting on others property.

Please follow the following directions

1. Use the soil survey maps to locate what kinds of soils are in your area.
2. Collect a small amount of soil and place in a small zip lock bag.
3. Use the soil survey books to learn about your collected soil and write a half page report about the soil.
4. Tape soil to bottom of report page and place in a binder.
5. Bring soil and reports to school.
