Eighth Grade Science Project
First Quarter - Leaf Collection

Grading---- each leaf is worth 4 points. One point each for correct Scientific Name and Location Found and 2 pt. for correct Common Name. The project is for 25 leaves or 100 points.

Extra credit ----- 10 leaves collected and identified as above will be worth 2 pt.

Extra leaves greater than 35 can be collected to ensure you get the full points allowed. The extra can then be switched for the misidentified or wrongly collected.

I will give you a simple leaf guide and identifier that you are responsible for and will return at the end of the project. You may need to use others and if you can not identify a leaf bring it in and use the several guides I have in my classroom.

The most common error in leaf collecting is collecting a leaflet instead of a compound leaf.

Do not collect fruit trees because you will not be able to find the correct scientific name.

Please receive permission before collecting any leaf and show respect for others property.

No more than 10 leaves can come from one place.
